Dianne Daley is one of the founding partners of FOGA DALEY and the head of the firm’s Intellectual Property (IP) Department. Her principal practice areas are transactional IP rights and rights acquisition in the areas of trademarks, designs, copyright and related rights, patents and trade secrets. Her practice includes, related areas such as IP rights administration and Entertainment and Media law.

Dianne qualified as an Attorney-at-Law in Jamaica in 1990. She is a CIDA scholar and holds a Master’s Degree in Comparative Law from McGill University with IP and International Copyright as areas of specialization and a Bachelor of Laws Degree with Honours from the University of the West Indies (UWI). She is also an adjunct lecturer on IP Law for the Corporate and Commercial Law Master of Laws Programme at UWI.

Dianne is the Honourary Secretary for the Jamaican Copyright Licensing Agency (JAMCOPY), Company Secretary for the CMO, Jamaica Music Society (JAMMS), a director of the NGO, Intellectual Property Service Centre and a founding member of the Digicel Jamaica Foundation. Her previous appointments include Acting Chairman of the Jamaica Intellectual Property Office (JIPO) Advisory Board (2006-2007) where she also served as Deputy Chairman since 2005 and as a member from the Board’s inception; Deputy Chairman of Jamaica’s Copyright Tribunal (2000-2003); Special Ministerial Advisor on Intellectual Property, Coordinator for the establishment of JIPO, (2000-2001) and head of Jamaica’s Copyright Unit (1995-2000).

Dianne has represented the Government of Jamaica as an IP expert at many international meetings and negotiations in the context of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Free Trade Area of the Americas, the Commonwealth Secretariat, UNESCO and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). She was lead expert for Jamaica in the negotiations of the WIPO "Internet" Treaties in December 1996 and was a Vice President of the WIPO Diplomatic Conference on the Protection of Audiovisual Performances in December 2000. Dianne has also worked as an IP consultant for WIPO, the United Kingdom Commission on IP Rights and the Commonwealth Secretariat.

Dianne is published internationally in various journals including Copyright World, Intellectual Asset Management, Entertainment Law Review, Intellectual Property Value: Building and Enforcing Intellectual Property Value, the International Law Office and Managing Intellectual Property.
